The Setting: State of Leonida & Modern Vice City

GTA 6 returns to Vice City for the first time since 2002, set in the fictional state of Leonida — a modern Florida.

The state of Leonida

Leonida is the fictional version of Florida, the way San Andreas is California. It's the biggest open world Rockstar has ever built — multiple cities, swamps, beaches, the Keys, and rural interior.

Vice City returns

Vice City is the centerpiece — a modern, neon-soaked Miami analog. Last seen in GTA: Vice City (2002) and Vice City Stories (2006), both set in the 1980s. This is the first contemporary Vice City.

What we've seen in trailers

  • Vice Beach — the strip, hotels, art-deco district
  • Leonida Keys — Jason's home turf
  • Port Gellhorn — coastal industrial area
  • Ambrosia — rural / agricultural
  • Mount Kalaga National Park — wilderness
  • Grassrivers — Everglades-style swamp

Scale

Rockstar hasn't given an official square-mile number. Datamines and leaks aren't reliable — wait for the official tech breakdown closer to launch.
