What was announced

Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3:00 p.m. ET. The same footage goes up on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA VI website at 9:00 p.m. ET the same day — a six-hour Netflix head start.

Netflix is calling it a "first-of-its-kind partnership." Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Nonfiction Series, framed it as the platform becoming "a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience."

Why this is a big deal

• This is effectively Trailer 3 — the reveal the community has been waiting on all summer.
• Rockstar has never handed a first-look window to a streaming platform before. Trailer 1 (Dec 2023) sits near 300 million YouTube views; Trailer 2 (May 2025) near 200 million.
• Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the full marketing push would start in Summer 2026. This is it kicking off.
• It is branded an "extended look," not a trailer — the wording suggests something longer than the usual 90 seconds, and possibly the first real gameplay context we get.

What we still do not know

• Runtime. "Extended" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. No official length has been given.
• Whether there is gameplay. Rockstar has shown zero raw gameplay so far. An extended look is the natural place for it, but nothing is confirmed.
• Whether Netflix gets anything beyond the premiere window — no announcement of a series, documentary, or ongoing GTA content on the platform.

What to do on the 27th

• Netflix subscriber? 3 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CEST. Be there.
• No Netflix? 9 p.m. ET / 3 a.m. CEST on YouTube and the official GTA VI site.
• Expect spoilers and clip rips to flood social between those two windows. If you want it clean, stay off the feed.
